Whidbey Playhouse is thrilled to announce that nominations are now open for Board Member positions for the 2024 - 2025 year. We are seeking passionate individuals ready to help steer the future of our beloved community theater. Open positions include President, Treasurer (both two-year terms), Vice-President, Secretary (one-year finishing terms), and Board Member-at-Large (one-year term), with terms beginning on July 1, 2024.
What Does It Mean to Be a Whidbey Playhouse Board Member?
Serving on the Whidbey Playhouse Board means becoming a key part of a dedicated team committed to the theater's mission: to inspire, entertain, enrich, and educate our local artists and audiences. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Whidbey Playhouse relies on the expertise, time, and talents of its Board Members to secure a thriving future. Our Board Members bring diverse experiences, professional insights, and a shared love of theater, all of which are crucial in driving our growth. We strongly encourage individuals with varied backgrounds and skills to nominate themselves or others they believe would make valuable contributions.
How Long Do Board Members Serve?
President and Treasurer: Two-year terms (July 1, 2024 - June 30, 2026), eligible for re-election for a second term.
Vice-President and Secretary: One-year finishing terms (July 1, 2024 - June 30, 2025), eligible for re-election for a two-year term in June 2025.
Board Member-at-Large: One-year term (July 1, 2024 - June 30, 2025), eligible for re-election for multiple terms.
Board positions are limited to two consecutive terms in the same role to ensure fresh perspectives and dynamic leadership.
Criteria for Serving on the Board of Directors
Familiarity with or a strong interest in Whidbey Playhouse’s programs.
Availability to attend monthly Board Meetings and fulfill assigned duties.
Relevant skills, knowledge, or experience to contribute effectively.
Active advocacy for Whidbey Playhouse.
Ability to work collaboratively with others.
Completion of a Whidbey Playhouse Volunteer Background Check prior to election.
Eligible individuals include those who have served as voting members of the board prior to July 2018, or who have served as board officers or oversight committee chairs from July 2018 onwards.

You can nominate individuals or yourself for multiple positions, but a separate form is required for each nomination. All nominations must be submitted or received by 5:00 pm PDT on June 3, 2024.
The Nominating Committee will assess the interest of those nominated and announce the slate of nominees on June 16. Nominations from the floor will also be accepted during the Whidbey Playhouse Annual Meeting on Sunday, June 23, followed by elections.
